By typing a mobile phone number and text message, then selecting the send button, computer users who may be mobile will be sending text messages to phones that certainly are mobile.
People who don't text can use the familiar email format to communicate with those who do. Basically, older folks will be able to text younger folks. Yahoo has not disclosed the list of mobile carriers that will receive the messages yet.
The added feature is intended to help Yahoo compete in an ever more socially networked society.
