Welcome!
I come from one of the smaller, humbler communities in the country--Ashtabula County, Ohio. It has been said that development here is so slow that anything that takes hold in other parts of the country won't show up here for 20-years more.
There may be an exception to this precedent when it comes to wireless Internet. The county is surveying its constituents as to whether it should implement a free public Internet network county wide, which would obviously have to be implemented wirelessly to be practical.
I'm not saying we'll actually get it any time before 20-years from now, but the fact that they are even discussing it at a time when not exactly every city has such a thing is quite promising. This is especially forward-looking for an otherwise backward-ville mini-tropolis like ours, not to be overly disparaging.
I guess some good things are meant to happen everywhere, effecting everyone. The Internet is already clearly one such blessing. How else could a small town boy become a big time technology journalist without leaving the burg of his birth?
I assume some iteration of Wi-Fi, WiMAX or comparable Wireless MAN will be the protocol of choice. Please don't choose cellular.
Best Regards,
